Dong Nai Hydropower Joint Stock Company to be established

In this September, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) will approve the project on establishing Dong Nai Hydropower Joint Stock Company (DONAHJC) by exploiting the two being-built projects namely Dong Nai hydropower No. 3 and Dong Nai hydropower No. 4.

DONAHJC has the chartered capital of VND 2,700 billion, including 3 shareholders: EVN, Power Company No. 2 and Ho Chi Minh City Power Company. Then, each officer and employee working at Hydropower Project Management Board No. 6 may join capital contribution with the amount up to VND 200 million.

The investment of these 2 projects totals VND 13,000 billion. Therefore, EVN plans to shift the business model of them to join stock companies to efficiently upgrade the capability of investing, exploiting and operating.

As anticipated, DONAHJC will operate in such areas as investment in constructing generator, line system and 110kV, 220kV substations as well as power production and business. Moreover, the company will operate, guarantee and upgrade electric equipments and hydro constructions; consult and examine investment projects on construction. Besides, the company will expand into other areas like real estate, office leasing, capital business, stock exchange, etc.

Dong Nai No. 3 and Dong Nai No. 4 hydropower companies will have the total capacity of 520 MW when operating in late 2009, and in late 2010 will provide the national power network with the average power output of 1.7 billion kW/year, and will seamlessly inhibit Tieu Man floods in lowlands, creating tourism sight-seeing and developing transportation and aquatic products.
