Work starts on Song Rieng hydro-electric power plant

The Song Rieng hydro-electric power plant was kicked off by  Quang Ngai’s Department of Industry and Trade and HP joint stock company in Tra Phong commune, Tay Tra district, Quang Ngai province on July 26.

The Song Rieng hydro-electric power plant is part of the project on improving hydro-electric power on the Tra Khuc river. The plant, with a total capacity of 3.75 MW, is capitalised at VND 67.44 billion. The Song Rieng power plant is expected to generate 14.59 million kWh of electricity annually.

Once completed in the fourth quarter of 2010, the plant will contribute to improving the quality of the local grid and providing electricity to over 18,000 people in the area. Also, the construction will help to regulate the running water source, improve natural environment and create jobs for local people in order to contribute to the economic development, hunger eradication and poverty reduction for thousands of households in the locality.
