The plant which has the installed capacity of 11 MW has been invested by Truong Son Construction Consulting Limited Company with the total investment of VND 290.8 billion. The area that is estimated to be in use is 11.1 ha, of which the reservoir area is 8.8 ha and the rest if the area of the factory, pressure route, energy route and additional projects.
Currently, Thua Thien – Hue has planned 11 hydropower projects in the province, of which 3 projects that have been implemented are Binh Dien hudropower project (44 MW), Huong Dien hydropower project (54 MW) and A Luoi hydropower project (170 MW).
For Binh Dien hydropower project, the unit 1 is anticipated to generate in the beginning of the year 2009. This project includes 2 units with the capacity of 44 MW, the annual power output of 201.6 million kWh/year and the total investment of VND 1.047 billion. In the past few days, the water level of Binh Dien reservoir has reached 74 m. This is the first year that Binh Dien reservoir has reserved water, so the working staff is on duty 24/24 hours for the security of the project. The construction workforce in Binh Dien hydropower project is implementing chief categories such as pouring concrete for the factory’s base, installing water flow pipe to turbine’s gate and so on. Apart from constructing the dam so that it reaches the +1 high level before the flood season of this year, the workforce is on schedule of constructing the pressure route and energy route and is gathering more than 80% of the machines to the warehouses of the company. Thua Thien – Hue province has used 470 ha of land to emigrate 77 households in 6 communes which is in the area of the project, including Son Thuy, Hong Thai, Hong Thuong, Nham, Hong Quang and Phu Vinh. These households will move to new occupations in Hong Ha commune (A Luoi district) and Huong Van commune (Huong Tra district) for the construction of Binh Dien hydropower plant.
