The Huong Phung 2 wind farm has a designed capacity of 20MW with 6 turbines, and investment of more than 932 billion VND (over 40 million USD).

Meanwhile, the Huong Phung 3 plant has a designed capacity of 30MW with 9 turbines, costing over 1.38 trillion VND (59.24 million USD).

Both plants are scheduled to begin generating electricity in the first quarter of 2021. They are expected to add 190 million kWh of electricity to the national power output, and contribute some 50 billion USD (2.14 million USD) to the State budget each year.

Addressing the launch of construction, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Quan Chinh said Quang Tri has great potential for wind energy, and the province has been reforming administrative procedures and improving the investment environment to attract more investors in renewable energy project in the locality.

Besides the Huong Phung 1 and 2 plants, eight more wind power projects are slated to be launched in the time ahead, helping turn Quang Tri into a renewable energy hub in the north-central region.
