Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) just had a meeting with the representatives of Karpowership Group (Republic of Turkey) to discuss cooperation opportunities between the two sides, in which there was a solution to generate electricity from floating power plants (when the Vietnamese power system will lack local supply).
Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan - General Director of EVN discussed with Mr. Sander Gurbuz - Senior Advisor of Karpowership.

Also attending the meeting were Mr. Haldun Tekneci - Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Vietnam, and Mr. Sander Gurbuz - Former Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Vietnam, Senior Advisor of Karpowership.

Karpowership is an enterprise that specializes to provide floating power plants. The generator ship of Karpowership with a heat recuperator uses heavy fuel oil (HFO) or natural gas for power generation by the steam cycle. The power generation ship is designed with a capacity from 30 MW - 760 MW and can be connected to the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) system for generating electricity by LNG.

According to Karpowership, the time for completing such a generator ship is from 90 - 120 days (from the time of signing the contract).

In Southeast Asia, Karpowership has cooperated with Indonesia to deploy a power plant project with a capacity of 1,000 MW.

Mr. Tran Dinh Nhan said a floating power generation ship is a new solution. EVN will carefully study this solution to report and consult the Ministry of Industry and Trade and state management agencies.

"This is a solution with a feasible nature in the coming years, when the Vietnamese power system may face a shortage of local supply, especially during the peak of the hot season in the North every year" - EVN General Director emphasized.
