Under the terms of the deal, the solar park will be established in two phases, each with a capacity of 500 MW, with the first phase completed within 18 months from the date of signing, and the second phase within 24 months, Egypt's Ministry of the Public Business Sector said on Tuesday.

The facility will be located near the aluminium factory in Nagaa Hammadi. Scatec, which is developing several large-scale green energy projects in the North African country, will be responsible for project development, financing, and equipment installation.

Egypt Aluminum Company has been producing molten aluminum in various forms of castings, rolled products, carbon anode blocks and various types of spare parts at its factory in Nagaa Hammadi since 1975. The facility has an annual production capacity of 320,000 tonnes.
