The 21st Conference of Electric Power Supply Industry (CEPSI) has commenced in Bangkok, with participants coming from 40 countries around the world.

Prior to the opening of CEPSI 2016 on October 23, international experts in energy paid homage to Thailand’s late King Bhumibol Adulyadej. They particularly reflected on his research and royal initiatives concerning the development and use of domestic resources to generate renewable energy, with a view to reducing fuel imports and ensuring energy security in the country.

CEPSI, which this year comes under the theme “Energy Sustainability and Security: Choices and Challenges for Power Supply Industry”, is organised by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand and the Association of the Electricity Supply Industry of East Asia and the Western Pacific.

The five-day event provides a platform for leaders in the power supply industry from around the globe to exchange knowledge and technological advancements in various branches.

In his address to the gathering, Thai Deputy Prime Minister ACM Prajin Juntong pointed out that the power industry is now facing many challenges and risks so it is necessary to further develop the industry by introducing new technologies and innovations that are efficient and environmentally friendly.
