The Global Initiative RE100 is a campaign with the aim to gather the companies in the list of Global Fortune 500 such as Apple, Google, Facebook, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Philips and Goldman Sachs for implementing their commitment to use 100% renewable energy within as short as possible term.

LONGi commits to use "100% renewable energy by 2028"

LONGi - a world leading company for solar energy technology has declared to participate in the Global Initiative RE100 initiated by Climate Group and CDP on March 12, 2020 with a commitment to use the renewable energy (RE) with 70% by 2027 and 100% by 2028 in its global activities.

When participating in the RE100 campaign, LONGi will have a greater responsibility to promote the development of the low-carbon economy and ensure the achievement of the climate goals in the world.

The LONGi intended to divide its energy strategy into three main stages as follows:

Stage 1: from 2006 to 2015, using traditional energy to produce clean energy.

Stage 2: from 2016 to the present, using clean energy to produce clean energy.

In this stage, LONGi produced photovoltaic (PV) products in Yunnan, China and Kuching, Malaysia – the areas having high hydropower potential. The finished products were then exported to the customers over the world and became the "messengers" to bring clean energy to the world.

Stage 3: In the future, LONGi will realize its strategy "Solar energy for Solar energy" to produce clean energy products from 100% clean energy with a direction to the carbonless earth.

In recent years, LONGi has installed rooftop solar PV systems at its production facilities to promote using clean energy. Up to now, the company has also actively developed solar power plants with a total capacity of over 2 GW, and commercial and industrial power plants with an accumulated capacity of 1.5 GW.

LONGi is one of the first photovoltaic enterprises to achieve "Green Power Certificate", and many times presented in the list of the green manufacturers of Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Ms. Helen Clarkson, CEO of The Climate Group, said: "LONGi is a leading solar technology company in the world. Climate Group and LONGi have reached a high consensus in sustainable development goal. We hope to cooperate with LONGi to accelerate RE development over the world".

Mr. Li Zhenguo, Founder and President of LONGi commented: "Participating in the global initiative RE100 shows the commitment of LONGi to the sustainable future of the world. We will take concrete steps to ensure our commitments. LONGi is ready to cooperate with the partners around the world to accelerate the global energy transmission. We also believe that the goal to use 100% RE in the world would be certainly achieved by 2050, and even by an earlier time".
