On June 19, Ho Chi Minh City Industrial Park Enterprises Association (HBA), Ho Chi Minh City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority, Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation organized the opening of the chapter. “Development of rooftop solar power and renewable energy in industrial parks and export processing zones in the city”.

According to HBA’s statistics, Ho Chi Minh City has 17 industrial parks and export processing zones, with an area of 4,141 ha, of which 2,700 ha of land have built 1,500 factories; Hi-tech park has 900ha, with 80 factories.

The city has 500-1,000 ha of roof area to install rooftop solar electricity. If the city completes its 1,000MWp installation strategy, it will help reduce 10-15% of electricity consumption, reduce 23 million tons of CO2, save national resources, reduce environmental pollution.

Mr. Nguyen Le Tan, Deputy Head of Energy Management Division, Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, said: “We have worked with Ho Chi Minh City Power Corporation to deploy the development of solar power systems in the city.

In which, there is content to support and mobilize businesses and people to participate in installing solar power. The department is developing a rooftop solar power development plan to submit to the city leaders. “

Currently, the implementation of installing solar power system in Ho Chi Minh City still has some problems, such as requiring a license to install solar power on the roof. In addition, during the investment process, because the price of electricity purchased is constantly changing, many investors are wondering whether to invest in solar power.

Therefore, in order to achieve the number of 1,000 businesses participating in installing and installing solar power within 4 years, the parties need to make efforts to cooperate and solve difficulties when implementing the installation.

To overcome these difficulties, Mr. Bui Trung Kien, Deputy General Director of Ho Chi Minh City Electricity, said that the unit will organize consultancy for businesses and people in need of installing solar power.

Electricity workers will work with each enterprise in the export processing zone to put the policy into practice. After completing the rooftop installation project, the company will proceed to sign power purchase agreement.
