Vicem Ha Long Cement Joint Stock Company (Vicem Ha Long Cement) produces an average of 1,6-1,9 million tons of clinker and 1,4-2,2 million tons of cement each year. According to statistics, the company spends about 20-23 billion VND on electricity each year, and this source of funding accounts for 14-17% of the unit's production costs. To increase profits and reduce product costs, the company also focuses on maximum solutions to reduce power consumption.
The unit's energy saving measures have brought high efficiency such as: replacing all incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs; installing an inverter system for the compressed air system; replacing the old air conditioning system with an inverter air conditioning system; optimizing furnace operating parameters; improving the main furnace system to burn low-grade coal; increasing the burning of garbage and scrap to create alternative energy in production...
The company also promotes propaganda and education to all employees about the use of energy-saving equipment such as: Turning off unnecessary equipment when leaving the room; cutting off the power source if not using the equipment; making the most of natural light and ventilation...
Mr. Vu Van Tang, Deputy General Director of Vicem Ha Long Cement, shared: “As one of the factors that make up the cost of the product, electricity costs account for a significant proportion because cement production is a field that requires a large amount of electricity. The standard for 1 ton of clinker is about 60 - 61 kWh/ton, but at Vicem Ha Long, thanks to the application of many synchronous solutions, it is now only 58 kWh/ton. This has helped the company save about 5 billion VND/year, equivalent to the business increasing profits while still contributing to helping the power system always operate safely and stably.”
Ha Lam Coal Joint Stock Company is also a large production unit with a very high demand for electricity. To save electricity, the Company has implemented many solutions to manage and use energy economically and effectively. Typically, promoting the use of sustainable energy through the Prospect energy management system; training energy managers according to the framework program prescribed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade; regulating the closing and opening of high and low voltage equipment and decentralizing internal grid management; monthly periodic inspections of load-bearing electrical systems; applying soft starters and inverters to start and speed up electric motors; installing Superdim timers for LED lighting systems, compensating reactive power to reduce voltage loss on transmission lines, etc.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Toan, Deputy Head of the Mechanical and Electrical Department, Ha Lam Coal Joint Stock Company, said: The company aims to reduce 10-15% of electricity output each year through production modernization. In the coming time, the company will continue to maintain inverter systems, soft starters and reduce street lighting systems. At the same time, it will focus on researching and applying modern technologies to improve efficiency as well as save energy in the production and business processes of the unit.
To ensure economical and efficient use of electricity, many large manufacturing enterprises and key energy-using facilities in the province have also applied the energy management model according to ISO 500001 standards. In particular, many enterprises have replaced new technologies that use minimal electricity, optimize equipment operating parameters, etc. Thereby, contributing to reducing power consumption.
Efforts to promote electricity saving
Fully aware of the social benefits of using electricity economically and effectively, over the years, Quang Ninh Power Company (PC) has always paid attention to investing resources, funding and researching to increasingly diversify forms of electricity saving propaganda, in order to best convey to customers the State's policies, laws on using electricity economically and effectively and the economic and environmental benefits from using electricity economically and effectively.
For manufacturing enterprises, companies should implement a campaign to reduce power usage during prolonged heat waves or balance production schedules to reduce electricity usage during peak hours, increase electricity usage during off-peak hours, invest in energy-saving production equipment and coordinate with the electricity industry to monitor and control electricity quality.

Quang Ninh Province Department of Industry and Trade said that currently, key energy-using enterprises in the province have changed their awareness and boldly invested in and installed modern equipment, implementing the most thorough energy-saving measures.
Currently, the Department of Industry and Trade has developed a number of tasks for 2025 on the National Program on economical and efficient use of energy for the period 2019 - 2030 to be implemented in the province. The list of tasks for 2025 includes: Developing a propaganda handbook, billboards, and leaflets on energy saving; Organizing training courses to raise awareness of energy saving in the industrial sector for businesses and key energy-using establishments; Propagating on newspapers, radio, and television about energy saving in production, business, and social life to raise awareness and responsibility for economical and efficient use of energy among businesses and the community.
