Tuyen Quang: Attempts to bring electricity to villages and hamlets

In recent years, the bringing of grid electricity to remote villages has made an important contribution to hunger eradication and poverty reduction for ethnic minorities in Tuyen Quang province.

According to a recent report from the Department of Industry and Trade of Tuyen Quang Province, the Rural Power Supply Project from the National Power Grid of Tuyen Quang Province for the period 2013 - 2020 has completed the construction of 30 substation and power line project items, supplying electricity to 4,820 households in 80 villages, 27 communes, 6 districts in the province, with the construction scale including 182,962 km of medium voltage lines, 67 substations, 219.768 km of low voltage lines. Up to now, the DOIT has been implementing pre-investment steps for power lines and substations supplying electricity for Vang On village, Trung Minh commune, Yen Son district.

The goal is to develop a medium and low-voltage power grid, supplying grid electricity to households and ethnic minorities in unelectrified villages in Tuyen Quang province, meeting the urgent electricity need for socio-economic development, gradually improving the intellectual life of ethnic minorities in remote and highland areas, ensuring security - politics - society in the area.

On the basis of the power grid development planning established for each period, along with the efforts of local authorities, the support of the Government as well as the Ministry of Industry and Trade, many grid development investment projects in Tuyen Quang area have been implemented.

The Rural Power Supply Project from the National Power Grid of Tuyen Quang province in the period 2013 - 2020 has an implementation period until 2025.

It is expected that the project will supply grid electricity to 615 villages and hamlets in the area. Of these, 65 villages and hamlets are unelectrified, and 550 villages and hamlets are having electricity supply expanded, located in 126 communes of 06 districts and 01 city of Tuyen Quang province. The total length of medium voltage lines is 452.986 km; 230 substations with a total capacity of 13.971 kVA. The total length of low voltage lines is 1,102.105 km; The total number of households being newly electrified is 21,754 meters. The project covers a total permanent land occupation area of 19,722 m2; the total right-of-way area is 7,784,962 m2.

The project’s total investment cost is VND 950,097,234,000, funded by the state budget, the local budget, and other legal funding sources.
