US Millennium Energy Corporation proposal to invest in LNG power project in Soc Trang province

Mr. Sam Chan- the Chairman of Vietnam Millennium EnergyCo., Ltd. asked Soc Trang PPC to permit Vietnam Millennium Energy studying investment in a LNG power project with a total capacity of 9600 MW (including two phases) in Soc Trang province and allocate a land area of 200 ha with supporting compensation and ground clearance for the project development.

The Office of Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee (PPC) just informed that, in a working meeting with Mr. Sam Chan a member of Millennium Petroleum Corporation of the United States.
 
Mr. Lam Hoang Nghiep - Vice Chairman of Soc Trang PPC expressed a respect for the investor to take interest in investment in the projects that Soc Trang has advantage and asked the investor to have the concrete proposal document, so based on this document Soc Trang PPC will discuss and issue the document to agree for investor to survey and establish the necessary project documents for Soc Trang PPC to submit the Government for approving.
 
According to Mr. Nghiep, at present, Soc Trang has implemented development planning for Dai Ngai and My Thanh industrial zones. So, it is very favorable for site clearance in case if Vietnam Millennium Energy should choose to develop the project in these 2 industrial zones.
 
In order to supplement power plants in condition to reduce new coal thermal power plants, coming time, in the southern system many LNG Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT) will be developed such as in Bac Lieu province the Vietnam Government has approved the LNG CCGTs with a capacity of 3,200 MW and a total investment level of about US$ 4.0 billion, invested by US Delta Offshore Energy Pte. Ltd (DOE) and implemented in EPC form by US Bechtel Corporation; in Long An province – the LNG CCGTs with a total capacity of 3,000 MW and a total investment level (including investment in LNG storage system) of about US$ 3.13 billion.
