This is among the moves to enable the National Load Dispatch Centre of Vietnam (NLDC) to run the power wholesale market in January 2016.

Other measures include automating complicated calculating processes to ensure transparency and recruiting high-quality engineers to operate the electricity market efficiently, deputy director Vu Xuan Khu said.

In mid-2015, the centre will put into operation the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and energy management system ( EMS ) to facilitate the power system administration and transaction.

In 2014, as many as 55 power plants directly joined the market, up 14.5 percent year-on-year.

The NLDC earned 70.5 trillion VND or 3.3 billion USD in sales, a yearly rise of 2.2 percent.

The Vietnam national grid has an installed capacity of nearly 34,000 MW, standing third among Southeast Asian countries and 31 st on the global scale.
