He made the order at a recent meeting to review the group’s operations in the previous year and plan for this year.

At the meeting, he said that the current price of electricity high in comparison with the average income. The deputy PM also urged that EVN find ways to attract hi-tech investments.

According to the deputy PM, in the case that the ministry is still suspect of EVN's figures, it should assign an independent auditor to check the company's figures before they are made public.

Under his instructions, all issues concerning EVN will be carefully looked over, such as those related to recent public doubts and adding pool and a tennis court onto the list of investments into electricity prices.

“Consumers have right to know the figures and these must be made public in a clear way,” he noted, adding that EVN has to set its sustainable development goal to avoid further losses.

EVN said its return on equity target was around 1% this year, however, Deputy PM, Hoang Trung Hai, countered that the returns were low compared to the world standard of 7%-12%.
