On December 30, In Tang Thuong commune, Di Linh district, Lam Dong province, Trung Nam Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company (in Ho Chi Minh City) started construction of Dong Nai Hydropower No.2 Project which has the capacity of 70 MW with the total investment of VND 1,633 billion.
Dong Nai Hydropower No.2 Project is the second one among 45 small and medium-sized hydropower projects invested by Lam Dong province. As planned, the project will have been constructed in 42 months’ time and will have generated power in quarter II of 2011. After being put into operation, Dong Nai Hydropower No.2 will join the national power network with the estimated power output of 294 million kWh/year.
As said by experts, apart from improving the power output for the national power network, the construction of Dong Nai Hydropower No.2 also contributes to the energy regulation and addition for hydropower projects in Dong Nai river’s downstream such as Tri An Hydropower, Dong Nai Hydropower No.3, Dong Nai Hydropower No.4 and so on.
Mr. Nguyen Tri Dien, Chief of Industry Department in Lam Dong, unveiled that there would be another 10 small and medium-sized hydropower projects to be constructed in Lam Dong in 2008.
