It took the plant with annual output of 815 million kWh in the two districts of Tay Giang and Dong Giang over 4 years to be built, 3 months ahead schedule. Therefore, the prime minister praised people in charge of the plant’s construction.
Besides power supply, the plant helps mitigate droughts, regulate floods for the downstream of the two rivers of Vu Gia and Thu Bon, minimize seawater encroachment, and create thousands of jobs for local people.
The prime minister asked A Vuong Hydropower Company to run the plant safely and effectively, and the provincial electricity sector to review hydropower potentials, and take care of ethnic people in resettlement areas. The company’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Nguyen Van Le, said the plant is Quang Nam’s first major hydroelectric plant over the two rivers of A Vuong and Bung.
Also on July 10, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and the government mission attended the ground-breaking ceremony of the dam of Bung 4A hydropower plant with capacity of 45MW, annual capacity of some 180.4 million kWh, and investment of about 1.2 trillion VND in the two districts of Dong Giang and Nam Giang.
