The five island communes of Quan Lan, Minh Chau, Ban Sen, Thang Loi, and Ngoc Vung in Van Don district of northern Quang Ninh province have officially connected with the national power grid.
With this, Quang Ninh has basically accomplished its target of bringing electricity to the country’s northeastern outpost islands, helping turn their Van Don district into a special economic region in the near future.
Started from April 2014, the power supply project has a total investment of 312 billion VND (14.9 million USD) funded by the province, the Electricity of Vietnam group (EVN) and the Northern Power Corporation (EVN NPC).
The five communes have 2,568 households in total.
