Install inverter for air compressor.
Established in 1996, the company specializes in producing and distributing beer brands such as Heineken, Tiger, and Viet beer.
Mr. Doan Duc Nghia, Director of Heineken Vietnam - Hanoi Brewery, stated that sustainable development is the guiding principle of the brewery's business strategy. Among these, energy-saving and efficient usage is a key solution that the leadership consistently prioritizes and continuously improves.
To improve energy efficiency, the brewery established an Energy Management Committee, which annually introduces policies and goals for energy conservation. Committee members are prioritized for training in energy efficiency. Two employees have been certified as Energy Managers by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The brewery also focuses on raising awareness and technical skills related to energy-saving for its workers.
Various technological solutions have been implemented, bringing initial positive results. These include installing CESS energy-saving systems for inverter station No. 3, automatic cosφ capacitor banks, insulating valves and uninsulated points on steam pipelines, and installing inverters for the air blowers in the wastewater treatment area, air compressors, CO2 compressors, and refrigeration CO2 compressors.
For the cooling system, the brewery insulated the heat exchange system to reduce heat loss, improved the condenser heat exchange system, and vented non-condensing gases to save energy.
Energy-efficient LED lights are also used in production areas, offices, and public spaces.
To determine energy consumption and potential savings, the brewery conducts energy audits every three years. These audits help identify management and technological solutions for energy conservation, increasing the competitiveness of the brewery's products in the market.
Through continuous improvements, technological investments, and employee awareness, the brewery has saved 2,784,415 kWh (equivalent to 565 TOE) over the past five years, with an energy savings rate of 5.5%.
“To further improve energy savings, the brewery plans to optimize production processes and invest in solar energy projects,” Mr. Nghia noted.
In addition to energy-saving measures, Heineken Vietnam - Hanoi Brewery has focused on environmental protection and sustainable development. Since 2016, the brewery has operated 100% on biomass fuel, investing in infrastructure and upgrading technology to significantly increase the share of renewable energy in its total production energy demand. This has reduced CO2 emissions by 3,368 tons, equivalent to a 40.9% reduction in the area.

The brewery submitted its application for the "2023 Energy Efficiency and Conservation Award in Industry," organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam Energy Conservation and Efficiency Association (VECEA). The award recognizes outstanding energy-saving models and solutions in industry, contributing positively to Vietnam’s socio-economic development and sustainable industrialization. Heineken Vietnam - Hanoi Brewery received an Encouragement Award, acknowledging its efforts and motivating further initiatives.
