The project has a total investment capital of VNĐ1.14 trillion, with a designed capacity of 50MWp. It will use electrical technology (PV technology) to directly convert sunlight into electricity using the photoelectric effect.
So far, the project has filled more than 90 per cent of solar cells and it is expected to be completed on June 20, 2019, when it will begin selling electricity to Vietnam Electricity.
However, the company is facing difficulties with space, roads and detailed planning that need to be promptly addressed so the plant can operate in accordance with the plan, Quyên said at a meeting with the People’s Committee of An Giang Province on Wednesday.
Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Lê Văn Nưng said the project has contributed to increasing national power supply capacity and stabilising the supply of electricity for An Giang Province and the whole Mekong Delta region.
Nưng requested departments, branches and Tịnh Biên District to co-ordinate to remove difficulties for investors so the project can be completed and go into operation on schedule.
The PPC also asked the investor to strictly enforce the commitment to protect the environment and not use chemicals to clean PV panels during the operation of the plant, and to comply with regulations on fire and explosion prevention and control.
