In the framework of the Vietnam - Laos conference 2019 on development cooperation for Industry and Trade, for Energy and Mine, Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam Tran Tuan Anh  has had a talk with Minister of Energy and Mine of Laos Khem-ma-ni Phôn-sê-na and signed important documents of the cooperation.

Accordingly, Vietnam - Laos have completed the signing of the Agreements on development cooperation of energy projects as Electricity – mines after more than 2 years of negotiation; signing electricity trading contracts of the Nam Sum 3 Hydropower project; Establishment of the Luong Pra-bang Energy Company Ltd. For implementing the Luong Pra-bang Hydropower Project.
 
In particularly, at the talks, Minister Khem-ma-ni Phôn-sê-na mentioned the possibility of purchasing power for the projects in coming time: Nam Ou 5-6-7 Hydropower; Laman coal-fired thermal power (Sekong province); Coal-fired thermal power (Boualapha district, Khammuan province); 600 MW wind power project (Sekong province).
 
Minister of MoIT of Vietnam Tran Tuan Anh said: Vietnam Electricity Group has been assigned by the Government to negotiate with Lao investors on the connection plan, price, capacity and electricity output in order to ensure compliance with regulations as well as the benefits of two sides. Accordingly, the two sides continue to promote the effective implementation of electricity projects and connection - electricity trading between the two countries.
