China to double nuclear power output in 2020

In the World Energy Committee lasting for 5 days in Rome (Italia), Mr. Kang Rixin, the President of China National Nuclear Energy General Company, has said in his speech that China would double the nuclear power output in 2020.

According to Mr. Kang, China has 11 nuclear power companies in operation, 8 companies in construction and 8 others in preparation. In China, nuclear power currently accounts for 2% of the total installed capacity of power companies in the whole country. Still, this weight will increase by 4% in 2020 with the installed capacity of 40 million KW derived from nuclear power companies.

China will invest Yuan 400 billion to erect 16 new nuclear power companies and Chinese Banks is enthusiastically pooling capital into these projects.

China has put nuclear power industry into the top of its development agenda, regarding it as a move that reduces CO2 waste gas, which solves the emerging problem of climate change.
