EVNGENCO2 signs strategic cooperation agreement with Singaporean group

Recently, Power Generation Joint Stock Corporation 2 (EVNGENCO2) officially made its debut and signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Singapore’s Sembcorp Industries to promote ties in corporate governance, digital transformation and renewable energy development at a ceremony held both online and offline.

EVNGENCO2 officially operates as a joint stock company from July 1, and is the first state-owned enterprise to successfully implement equitization under Decree 126/2017/ND-CP dated November 16, 2017 and Decree 140/2020/ND-CP dated November 30, 2020 on equitization of state-owned enterprises since the Committee for Management of State Capital at Enterprises was established.
 
The official launch of EVNGENCO2 is expected to create a new turning point for the company in stepping up transformation and becoming a leader in the electricity generation sector in Vietnam in both production and business efficiency and efforts to adapt and thrive in the post-Covid-19 era.
 
In its development strategy, the company emphasizes corporate governance modernization, digital transformation and green transformation.
 
To implement this strategy, EVNGENCO2 will pay special attention to attracting talents and expanding international cooperation, especially with leading corporations in the energy sector, including Singapore's Sembcorp.
 
The strategic cooperation will enable the two sides to share experiences in corporate governance and digital transformation, and develop renewable energy projects in Vietnam in the coming time.
 
EVNGENCO2 considers the strategic cooperation with Sembcorp a top priority in its efforts to learn and successfully implement digital transformation, green transformation and corporate governance modernization.
 
By the end of 2020, EVNGENCO 2 had an installed capacity of 4,461MW, accounting for 6.4 percent and 15.1 percent of the country’s total installed capacity and Vietnam Electricity’s (EVN) total installed capacity.
 
Sembcorp is a leading energy and urban development player in Singapore. It has invested in 10 Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Parks (VSIPs) in Vietnam.
