The production site is located in the city of Brookshire, Waller County, and aims to meet the growing demand for renewable energy solutions across the region, Waaree Energies said in a bourse filing.
“The launch of commercial production marks a critical step in localizing solar manufacturing in the United States, contributing to job creation and economic growth while reducing reliance on imported solar products,” said Sunil Rathi, president of Waaree Solar Americas Inc.
The Indian group initially unveiled its plan for the Texas factory at end-2023 with the intention to invest up to USD 1 billion (EUR 955.6m) over four years. The plant’s capacity will be scaled up to reach 5 GW by 2027. Its initial output will be supplied to SB Energy and other "leading solar companies".
Mumbai-based Waaree Energies operates 13.3 GW of solar module production facilities in its home country.
