A Luoi hydropower project insured for construction and installation

The signing ceremony for “Additional development credit loan” Contract for A Luoi hydropower project between Central Hydropower Joint Stock Company and Vietnam’s Bank of Investment and Development – Branch in Thua Thien-Hue and the signing ceremony for “Insurance for construction and Installation of A Luoi hydropower project” Contract between Central Hydropower Joint Stock Company and Bao Viet Vietnam took place in Thua Thien-Hue on January 4th.

A Luoi hydropower project is situated in A Sap river in A Luoi commune, Thua Thien-Hue province which is 70km far from Hue city in the West and 90km far from Lao Bao port of entry in the South.
The project is the one in the form of channel and canal ditch with the total plan of about 24km from the dam area which is 1.5km far from Viet-Lao border to the position of the plant’s discharge canal to Bo river. A Luoi has the entire investment of over VND 3,323.8 billion, of which construction cost accounts for more than VND 1,408.6 billion, machinery cost makes up for VND 893.5 billion, and compensation, land clearing, migration and environment protection costs are estimated at VND 201.3 billion.
A Luoi Hydropower which is designed with the capacity of 170 MW is ranked at II class, consisting of numerous categories in a large scale. The annual power output on average is 686.5.million kWh.
The Insurance Contract signed by Bao Viet Vietnam and Central Hydropower Joint Stock Company is approximately calculated at well over VND 2,100 billion with the insurance period of 50 months from December 15th, 2007 on, of which there are 12 weeks of running test and 24 months of maintenance. The scope of the contract is projects and equipments related to constructing and installing categories belonging to A Luoi hydropower project.
Apart from the “Additional development credit loan” Contract, the insurance contract will help the project be completed punctually as well as will tackle financial problems in case that there are damages in the construction and installation process.
The construction of A Luoi reservoir in A Luoi hydropower project will join flow contribution for Huong Dien hydropower project in Co Bi river. At the same time, it will have good effects on the ecosystem around the lake, paving the way for local tourism. 
As planned, in the next coming time, after being put into operation, A Luoi Hydropower will be one of the power suppliers that considerably contribute to the national power network system.
