As said by the National Development and Reform Commission of China (NDRC), in 2007, China has closed 553 small output thermal power companies with the entire capacity of 14.38 million kW, exceeding by 43% of targeted plan.
As calculated, the closure of small output thermal power companies has helped China save 18.8 million tons of coal, which lessens 290,000 tons of sulfide dioxide and 37.6 million tons of carbon dioxide.
From now to 2010, China plans to continue closing deficient small output thermal power companies with the total capacity of 50 million kW.
