EVN to invest over VND 1,644 billion in rural telecommunications

Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce the Investment Report of Rural Telecommunications in an effort to speed up the popularization of telecom and Internet services in rural areas where the socio-economic condition is difficult so as to boost the socio-economic development  and guarantee the national defense and security in accord with the Decision No. 74/2006/QD-TT released by the Prime Minister.

                  

Rural Telecommunication Project comprises of 5 elements, including the project of building CDMA 2000 1X 450MHz network in the highland and countryside of the North, the Central, the Southeast and the Southwest, and the project of purchasing 50,000 wireless fixed terminals.
Rural Telecommunication Project will be carried out in 35 provinces: Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Ha Giang, Lai Chau, Đien Bien, Lang Son, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Tuyan Quang, Yen Bai, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien- Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Đinh, Đak Nong, Đak Lak, Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Phu Yen, Binh Phuoc, Binh Thuan, Lam Đong, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria- Vung Tàu, An Giang, Ca Mau, Đong Thap, Kien Giang, Long An, Tra Vinh, Vinh Long. Estimatedly, The total amount of invested capital for the projects will be 1,644 billion VND (approximately 102,272,787 USD), of which 64,460,922 USD will be from ODA ans the rest 37,811,865 USD will derive from domestic capital mobilized by EVN from basic amortization and bond issuing.
