2008: EVNTelecom attempts to develop 4 million CDMA subscribers

With the solutions of upgrading network and service quality such as improving capacity, installing more BTS in the areas that have insufficient coverage quality and high density of subscribers, reducing traffic congestion and the loss of carrier signal, enhancing the quality of customer care, repairing terminals, etc., EVNTelecom is attempting to develop about 4 million CDMA subscribers, nearly 200,000 service users of band-with Internet and 31,500 service users of E-tel. The revenue of public telecommunications is estimated to be well over VND 4,700 billion.
EVN Telecom rewarded the 2 millionth customer in 2007
In 2007, public telecommunication business of Vietnam Electricity (EVN) achieved an obvious growth rate in comparison with the previous year. The total customers using CDMA, E-tel and Internet services reached more than 2.45 million, increasing by 0.5 million customers compared to the planned number, which meant a 3.5 time year-on-year increase. In more details, CDMA rapidly expanded and was recorded at 2.39 million customers and VND 1,668 billion of revenue, accounting for 60.6% of the year’s telecommunication revenue; and Domestic and international long distance service (VoIP) accomplished over VND 291 billion. With the extension of the two connecting directions of Telecom Malaysia and New World Telecom Hong Kong and the improvement of connecting capacity with old partners along with a reasonable price policy, the international VoIP communication traffic to domestic carriers of EVNTelecom in 2007 achieved 25 million minutes/month on average, rising by 30% compared to that of 2006. The revenue of wired telephones and Internet service all exceeded the planned objectives.
As revealed by EVNTelecom, by the end of quarter I/2008, the Company will have put the whole BTS system of 5th period into operation, raising the total number of BTS throughout the country to 2,900 ones. In this year, EVNTelecom will also finish upgrading NGN network, the switch office and the multi-service access device; will connect VoIP service for almost all cities and provinces; will negotiate with foreign countries to build up POPs; will complete the paper work of using 1900MHz frequency so as to provide service users with 3G service; and finally will test WiMax.
