12 industrial zones–processing and manufacturing zones of Ho Chi Minh City, except for processing and manufacturing zone Tan Thuan, which have been put into operation have been powered from 14 intermediary substations of 220/110 kWh, guaranteeing stable and continuous supply and preventive transmission when something goes wrong with the capacity of 1,162 MVA and possibly 1,764 MVA in following years.

In industrial zones Tan Tao, Tan Binh, Le Minh Xuan, Vinh Loc, and Linh Trung 1-2,  Ho Chi Minh City Power Plant is completing 110/15 kV intermediary substations to supply adequately the power demand. In new or expanded industrial zones like Phong Phu, Hiep Phuoc, Tan Phu Trung, the company has deployed the scheme of building intermediary substations. By September 2007, the total installed capacity of industrial zones-processing and manufacturing zones will have reached 627 MVA and consumed capacity will have achieved over 236 MVA, which is forecasted 1,505 MVA in 2010.

Because there are substations specialized on the spot with preventive supplying lines, power failure in the city’s industrial zones-processing and manufacturing zones has been considerably decreased. In the first 8 months of 2007, there have been only 38 times of power failure due to the power network’s problem, and the common power incidents see a 43% year-on-year drop. In order to minimize the number of the power incidents, Ho Chi Minh City Power Plant also intensifies power examining teams in industrial zones to operate and examine the network and security equipment in vulnerable places. In addition, the company prepares to give priority to providing the industrial zones-processing and manufacturing zones with preventive generation incase of emergency.
