Can Duoc-Long An 220kV Transformer Station was commissioned on September 29, 2018
Nguyen Van Hop, general director of the Southern Power Corporation (EVN SPC), said the power sector prioritizes investment in infrastructure and stable supply for agricultural production areas, seafood farming and processing zones, and businesses in key economic zones.
Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province currently has 15 industrial zones with more than 360 investment projects. The demand for electricity is high, growing an average of 9-10 percent per year. To ensure stable power supply for industrial zones, the Ba Ria-Vung Tau Power Company has invested in the installation of 22kV medium voltage power grids at a total cost of nearly VND134 billion, and 110kV transmission lines and transformer stations with total capacity of 395MVA. In addition, EVN SPC has implemented 14 power projects providing additional capacity of 813MVA to ensure sufficient power supply for Cai Mep Port, and the My Xuan B1, Phu My III, Long Son and My Xuan A2 industrial zones.
EVN SPC has also invested several trillion Vietnamese dong in infrastructure to ensure power supply for businesses in localities with high growth of industrial production.
In the first nine months of 2018, EVN SPC put into operation two 220kV power grids in the Sa Dec and An Giang transformer stations, 23 110kV grids, and 263 distribution grids.
Nguyen Phuoc Duc, deputy general director of EVN SPC, said that in addition to providing sufficient power for the development of industrial production, trade and services, the corporation has also ensured power supply for agricultural production, seafood farming and processing. During the 2017-2020 period, the company continues to invest in power sources for shrimp farming in six coastal provinces.
Due to sufficient power supply together with improvements in the power-saving fan system in industrial shrimp farming, the area and output of brackish shrimp farming in the Mekong Delta provinces have increased sharply. Specifically, the area of shrimp farming in 2017 reached more than 595,000ha for output of over 270,000 tonnes.
An Giang Province has the largest area of rice cultivation and the largest rice production in the country. To facilitate irrigation, EVN SPC has installed power transmission lines and transformer stations to supply power for pumping stations. To date, the province has nearly 1,600 electric pumping stations, reducing production costs for farmers and businesses and increasing productivity significantly.
