By the end of 2007, A Luoi hydropower project in Thua Thien-Hue province had completed the volume of nearly VND 495 billion, approximately 15% of the total investment. Units have drawn up inventory and land clearing compensation in order to keep up with the progress rate for such categories as main dam access, company’s entrance, nodal line, energy line, electricity line and so on.

At present, functional units are collaborating with each other to detect and demolish bombs and mines which have been residuary after the wars. However, the implementation of such kind of work in areas near the Vietnam-Laos border still is encountering difficulties owing to the fact that the field is too large. Thua Thien-Hue province has approved the strategy in which 470 ha of land will be used to move around 77 affected households in 5 communes in the area of the project, including Son Thuy, Hong Thai, Hong Thuong, Nham, Hong Quang and Phu Vinh) to new accommodations.
A Luoi hydropower project is the one situated in A Sap river, 70 km far away from Hue City in the West. This is a grade II hydropower project with the valley area of 331 km2 and the total capacity of reservoir of 60.2 million m3. The constructed project which has the entire investment of VND 3,234.7 billion composes of 2 units with the total installed capacity of 170 MW and the annual power output of 686.5 million kWh/year. As estimated, the project will have been finished and put into operation in 2010.
