14 power projects more to be put into operation in 2010

14 power projects will be put into operation in 2010 and 12 others in 2011, of which the Ban Ve and Cua Dat hydro-electric power plants will be put into operation in the first quarter and the second quarter of 2010; the Uong Bi and Nhon Trach thermo-electric power plants will generate electricity in December 2011.
This is according to instruction given by Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai regarding the progress of putting power sources into use in the 2010 – 2011 period in accordance with the VI Power Planning.
In the current period, energy security is still one of the big challenges facing the country. The risk of electricity shortage is possible next year.
The Deputy Prime Minister has requested that the relevant ministries and branches in co-ordination with enterprises in the power sector overcome difficulties to put electric power plants into operation on schedule.
