Alstom Hydro to provide Southeast Asian largest hydropower company with electro-mechanical equipments

On last October 1, in Paris, Mr. Philippe Cochet, the CEO of Alstom Hydro and Mr. Pham Le Thanh, the CEO of Vietnam Electricity (EVN), signed the contract of providing electro-mechanical for Son La Hydropower Company (2400MW capacity) which is the Southeast Asian largest hydropower company and has the value of EUR 190 million, with the eyewitness of Mr. Nguyen Tan Dzung, the Prime Minister of  the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Mr. Francois Fillon, the Prime Minister of France, Mr.  Martin Bouygues, the Chairman of Bouygues Corporation and Mr. Patrick Kron, the Chairman of Alstom Corporation.

Son La Hydropower Project is situated in Da River’s upstream, in Muong La district, Son La province, 340km Northwestern from Hanoi. According to the contract, Alstom Hydro takes the responsibility of providing from the designs, production, manufacturing and supplying 6 Francis 400 MW turbines and generators to machine assembly and operation, employee training and observation. As planned, the first unit will generate, joining the national power network in late 2010 and the final unit in late 2012. On operation, Son La Hydropower Company will provide about 10 billion kWh/year and satisfy the increasingly electricity demand of Vietnam.

 

To date, Alstom Hydro has provided the euqipments for 5 hydropower companies in Vietnam. Mr. Philippe Cochet, the CEO of Alstom Hydro, in his speech at the contract signing ceremony has said that: “Son La Hydropower Company plays a crucial role in satisfying the energy needs in Vietnam. Alstom Hydro has an honour to be given the responsibility of the project by EVN. It can be said that the contract of providing electro-mechanical equipments for Son La Hydro, the Southeast Asian largest hydropower company, will prove the capability, state-of-the-art technology and superior productivity of Alstom Hydro’s electro-mechanical equipments.”
