The session drew the participation of the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), the Vietnam National Gas and Oil Group (PetroVietnam), the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, and a number of NA committees.
Basically, concerned ministries, branches and agencies had completed targets set for the 2006-2008 period of the national strategy and the planning of the national electric power development for the 2006-2015 period, the NA economic committee said.
During the period, the power sector met the country’s electricity demand for socio-economic development, contributing to improving the people’s living standard, the committee concluded.

According to the committee, the power sector will face a number of hurdles in the 2009-2015 period for a variety of reasons, some to do with global economic conditions, and some to do with domestic business practices.
Attendants discussed a series of measures that could help the sector address such challenges and meet the targets set for the 2009-2015 period.
Under the strategy, the power sector is responsible for producing from 88 billion to 93 billion KWh by 2010.
