Enercon is to supply turbines to Trungham Group's over 400MW Ea Nam wind farm in Vietnam.

Deal with Trungham Group for the Ea Nam wind farm covers E-160 EP5 5.5MW and 4MW class E-138 EP3 machines.

The deal is the first for the delivery of E-160 EP5 E2 5.5MW machines in the country, and brings the company's order intake in Vietnam to more than 1GW.

The project will also consist of a number of Enercon’s 4MW class E-138 EP3 E2, of which a total of 98 units will be installed throughout Vietnam in 2021.
Ea Nam is located in the Dak Lak province and is expected online next year.

The E-160 EP5 turbine comes with a modular steel tower, which has already proven its success in Vietnam with the first successful installation of this type in recent months, Enercon said.

Enercon regional sales manager Asia-Pacific Steffen Brauns said: “By introducing our latest technology, we are increasing the feasibility of the projects under the current FIT-scheme and are also well prepared for the projects beyond 2021 when a new regulation is expected to apply.

“With the new E-160 EP5 E2 we are bringing the wind industry in Vietnam to a new level.

“The turbine will not only feature the biggest rotor diameter, but also the largest generator capacity to be installed in 2021 in Vietnam.”

Enercon local sales manager Van Hung Albert said: “When we started four years ago, the ambition of Enercon to change energy landscape in Vietnam was there.

“However, none of this would have been possible without the strong commitment of the government, and the outstanding performance of our customers.

“Trungham Group in particular, who is leading the wind energy development in Vietnam, has been a major contributor to Enercon’s success.”

Trungham Group general director Nguyen Tam Tien said: “Enercon has proven itself as a reliable partner with top quality standards.

“As proven in the numerous projects we have undertaken together, they have supported us by making the latest technological developments available.

“Today our projects include the E-103 EP2, the E-126 EP3, the E-138 EP3 E2, and now the E-160 EP5 E2.

“We are very pleased to pursue further developments and make Vietnam the renewable energy leader in Asia-Pacific.”
