On August 23rd, the HCM City People’s Committee had worked with involved agencies and businesses on clean energy. During the working session, local officials released that the City would cooperate with Russian partners to develop pilot wind-power projects in the City with the application of advanced technology, which may cost half of the costs for current wind power projects, even cheaper than hydropower.

Local officials said that they are planning to build two-wind power complexes in Can Gio with the aid of the new technology named “YnS-V”, which was invented by Russian scientists.

Total investment for the two wind power complexes was VND 60 billion and according to estimates, the commercial electricity price of the YnS-V wind power will be around US$ 1.5 per watt while that of hydropower is US$ 2.2 per W.

More importantly, the project will not damage environment or ecology, nor cause draughts or floods.
