To complete the task of power supply, EVNGENCO2 has focused all resources on technical management, operation, and maintenance, well implementing the policy of "closely monitoring equipment condition to sustain their smooth operation”, ensuring safe and reliable operation of generating units, promptly responding to dispatching orders of the National Load Dispatch Center (A0) in all circumstances, especially during the peak months of the dry season in 2024.
Hai Phong Thermal Power Plant’s operators focus their minds on monitoring parameters.
In the first 6 months of 2024, Power Generation Corporation No.2 (EVNGENCO2) had focused all resources to perform well the operation and maintenance of their power plants; prevented subjective incidents, repetitive incidents, and fuel shortages; created the best conditions for workforces during their operation shifts; well implemented the policy "closely monitoring equipment condition to sustain their smooth operation” to ensure the safe, uninterrupted and stable operation of the generating units, especially during the current period of intense heat.
Specifically, EVNGENCO2 has established a Steering Committee on securing electricity supply in 2024, constantly introduced many solutions, and drastically directed member entities to ensure stable and reliable operation of generating units, especially coal-fired power plants in the Northern region which is facing the most difficulties in electricity supply. The Corporation has also established 02 working groups to support and ensure power supply at Hai Phong Thermal Power Plant and Pha Lai Thermal Power Plant, urgently handling urgent issues of the generating units to ensure their highest availability, minimize abnormal situations and incidents.
Besides thermal power plants, EVNGENCO2 has directed hydropower companies to work directly with local authorities to agree on water use needs in the spirit of savings and flexibility, ensuring enough water resources until the end of the dry season. In addition, the Corporation has fully prepared human and material resources to carry out repair and maintenance of equipment systems to meet schedule and quality; always coordinating closely with A0, regularly updating and closely following hydrological situations to work out an effective operation plan, complying with regulations and procedures for inter-reservoir and single-reservoir operation, ensuring power supply security and safety, etc.; regularly monitoring rainstorm situation, preparing disaster prevention & searching and rescue plans, ensuring the safety of dams, hydropower plants and downstream areas, and securing the minimum water level according to inter-reservoir operating procedures during the 2024 rainy and flood season.

By the end of June 2024, the total electricity output of the Corporation has reached more than 8.3 billion kWh, an increase of 13.8% over the same period in 2023; Of which, thermal power plants generate nearly 7 billion kWh of electricity.
