Electricity of Viet Nam has assured there will be no power cuts during Tet (the Lunar New Year). The daily demand during the festival season – the New Year is on Sunday – is estimated at around 225 million KWh.

To ensure adequate supply, the EVN will inspect the network and quickly fix any problems that arise.

So far this year the country's sole electricity supplier has set up the 500kV Quang Ninh transformer station, 500kV Quang Ninh-Thuong Tin power transmission line, 220kV O Mon – Thot Not line, 110kV Hai Duong-Pho Cao line, and 500 kV Thuong Tin transformer station.

It has also expanded the capacity of the Thuong Dinh, Tia, Nghia Do and Van Dinh transformer stations.

It has increased output at several thermal plants but still has to buy 423 million kWh from China.

So far this year, the EVN has supplied around 7.3 billion kWh of electricity, including 4.3 billion kWh its own plants generated and the rest from private and other generators and imports.
