Starting ceremony for Vietstar Waste-to -Energy Plant
Vietstar Waste-to -Energy plant is formed from upgrading and innovating technology from the old solid waste treatment line. Vietstar power generation plant is formed from upgrading and technological innovation on the old solid waste treatment line. Therefore, investor does not need to ask for more land and support investment capital.
Speaking at the starting ceremony, Mr. Ngo Nhu Hung Viet - Director of Vietstar Joint Stock Company committed with leaders of Ho Chi Minh city to not let people complain about the bad smell and environmental pollution from garbage.
In the first phase, the Vietstar Wate – Energy plant has two modules with a capacity of 2,000 tons of sewage per day which will be put into operation by the end of 2020. Vietstar expects to invest in the second phase with two more modules to increase capacity of the plant to 4000 tons of sewage per day by 2021. In the plant, the sewage will be treated and recycled into fertilizer and plastic particles. So, all the sewage will be classified and non-recyclable one will be burned for power generation but buried as before.
It is expected that after completion in 2021, every day, the plant will treat 4,000 tons of garbage for power generation, 2,000 tons of recyclable sewage into and plastic particles. Together with Vietstar, two other plants with the same model of it will contribute to the goal of Ho Chi Minh City to reduce 50% solid waste.
At the stating ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Phong - Chairman of HO Chi Minh City People's Committee said, in recent 15 years, the plants for sewage treatment in Ho Chi Minh City helped the city handle more than 20 million tons of sewage by burying and recycling into fertilizer ... However, with a rapid speed of urbanization, currently, every day, the city eliminates 9,000 tons of household waste (excluding industrial waste), and growth rate of this waste still continues by 10% per year.
“To overcome the nasty smell and environmental pollution of burying waste, the Ho Chi Minh city administration has agreed for businesses to use Waste – to – Energy technology with a goal to decrease burying sewage rate to 50% by 2020, and to 20% by 2025” Mr. Phong emphasized.
