As expected, the plan of constructing the power plant with 500 turbines in Brocken Hill town in Southeast Australia will be started in 2008. When being put into operation, the plant will have the capacity of 1,000 MW and provide about 400,000 households with power for everyday life’s activities, meeting 4.5% of power demand of New South Wales State, the one with the highest population density in Australia.
Currently, over 80% of consumed power in Australia is produced by coal-fired thermal power companies and the remaining proportion is produced by hydropower companies.
