As a result of the  Katsana storm, two lines of the 500 kV power transmission system, which supply 25 percent of the total electricity output to the North, have failed, reported the Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN).

Katsana has hit the central Vietnam since September 28 evening.

With the the central region bearing the brunt of the storms, on September 28 evening, two of the 500 kV North-South transmission lines broke. The northern and southern power networks, therefore, have been separated.

Owing to this incident, the north will have to restrict power use during the peak hours of September 29 until the North and South power systems are connected.

In the central region, the storm broke many transmission lines and many transformer stations, affecting power supply in central provinces from Nghe An to Ha Tinh and Phu Yen.

EVN said that because of the Katsana, power supply in many provinces will be affected and it hopes to be sympathized by customers.
