Power production in October increases just 5.1%

According to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, in October 2007, the Storm No.5 from Ninh Binh to Da Nang has caused damages for the power network, affected the capability of power providing as well as the safety level of power providing in these provinces. Therefore, the power output in October merely reached 5.88 billion kWh, an 5.1% increase compared to last month. 10 months calculated, the power output totalled 55.3 billion kWh, rising by 12.9%.

Also in the previous October, the national power sales recorded 48.4 billion kWh, an 14% year-on-year increase, of which power for industry and construction rose by 19.1% and weighted 49.1%, power for management and population’s consumption saw an increase of 9.6% and weighted 41.6%. The whole sector’s revenue in October reached about VND 41.7 billion, rising by 23.9%.

 

In order to guarantee the power supply in dry season and for cultivating water in 2008 Winter-Spring crop, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) is hoarding up hydro lakes’ water to the normal level in December 2007. Especially, Hoa Binh lake water level will be 117m. Along with setting up the machine-repairing agenda for the highest readiness in the dry season, EVN is also finishing the assembly of Vinh Yen’s transformer No.2 of 220 kV substation to raise the imported power from China via Lao Cai. At the same time, EVN is punctually putting the projects like Uong Bi-expaned, Quang Tri, Dai Ninh, Tuyen Quang, Pleikrong, Nhon Trach No.1, etc. into operation .
