The State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) and the Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) signed a comprehensive co-operation agreement on December 2.
Under the agreement, SCIC and EVN will study for co-operation on the principle that EVN and SCIC will hold at least 51% stake in electric power projects.
Initially, SCIC will contribute capital in some EVN hydro and thermo-electric power projects that need more capital to speed up construction work.
Specifically, SCIC will invest in electric projects through capital contribution, buying the stake owned by EVN in to-be-built, are-being built, nearly-completed and already-completed power plants so that EVN can use the capital to invest in other projects.
The two companies will also contribute capital to establish joint stock companies to invest, construct and manage thermo and hydro-electric power plants as well as study on the capability of building and managing the first atomic electric power plant in Vietnam.
