EVN: Launches energy-saving website

On March 15, The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) will publicize the electronic news network, namely http://www.tietkiemnangluong.com.vn. This is one of the first news websites that disseminate and consult about matters related to power saving.

As said by Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung, Vice General Director of EVN, the website will focus on areas such as how to use electricity effectively and economically, how to use power-saving devices, information of power production and electrical sciences.
“Encouraging customers to use electric devices in an economical, secure and cost-effective way in line with other synchronic equipment, EVN hopes that it will satisfy the power demand for the socio-economic development as well as the population’s consumption in the peak period of this year”, added Mr. Hung.
EVN reckons that if it is possible to reduce by 50% of the lighting system, home appliances, outdoor decorating devices in the streets and entertainment centers, there will be 700 MW of power saved, which means that there will be roughly USD 700 million saved for the capital to construct power plant.
