As revealed by Vietnam Electricity (EVN), from August 28 to August 31, the importation of power from China will decrease because some substations which imports electricity from China have had to change into import electricity from Vietnam to serve the connection of the 500 kV line from Thuong Tin (Hanoi) to Quang Ninh. As estimated, the feasible capacity of the whole system is about 10,200 MW, which is facing a shortage of roughly more than 2,000 MW/day compared to the average power demand.
Since the beginning of August, water flow to reservoirs has increased and the hydropower plants have generated with their full capacity, which has improved the power supply. Still, there has been a lack of about 10% of the total capacity.
