As revealed by The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), since the beginning of the year, the power output of Ca Mau Power Company 1 and 2 has been recorded at a low level.

This is resulted from the plan of supplying gas for Ca Mai 1 and 2 which has decreased. From January 1st to January 8th, the gas supply to Ca Mau was only 2.2 million m3 per day, thus the mobilized capacity of two companies was just about 720 MW/1,500 MW. From February 5th to February 8th, the gas supply to Ca Mau was only 3 million m3 per day, thus the mobilized capacity of two companies was just about 746 MW/1,500 MW.

Moreover, Ca Mau Power Company cannot raise the capacity because there had been 8 incidents in two companies, which prolonged the shut-down period of units to 242.2 hours.

Consequently, the power output of Ca Mau 1 in January was recorded at just over 273.7 million kWh and that in sixteen days of February was 156.4 million kWh. The power output of Ca Mau 2 was more than 97.8 million kWh in January and 159.6 million kWh in the first sixteen days of February.

According to EVN, the change in the plan of gas supply for Ca Mau 1 and 2 since the beginning of the year has had influenced on the power purchase and the capability of providing electricity for the system while it is dry season in the South and the weather in the North is droughty.

In the first half of this coming March, the gas supply for Ca Mau will be only 1.75 million m3 per day, which is a 2.75 million m3 per day decrease compared to that of the stable run level and a 4.75 million m3 per day decrease compared to that of the high run level. This is due to the fact that the Malaysian petrol company Talisman will stop the combination Northern Field to carry out connecting terminal.
