From November 19 to November 21, 2007, in Furama Hotel in Da Nang City, Asian Development Bank (ADB) has coordinated with the Electricity Regulatory Authority of Vietnam (ERAV) and Vietnam Electricity to organize the 5th committee of focus group (PG – 5) and the 4th one of power network link group (PWG- 4) in the shape and size of the activities of coordination program on purchasing power and developing power market in the nations of Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS).
There were more than 40 representatives from Asian Development Bank, World Bank, Sweden’s SIDA Corporation along with some other drastic economic industrial corporations in several countries in the world attending the Committee. Representatives of Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) comprised of China, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand and the host country Vietnam. The Committee was controlled by Mr. Pham Manh Thang, the Bureau Chief of Electricity Regulatory of Vietnam and Mr. Anthony Jude, expert from Asian Development Bank.
In the Committee, representatives concentrated on discussing the matters relating to the operation of power network transmission, power transmission law, the construction of data bases for integrated power network and power purchase between countries in the region, and simultaneously prepared for the content of the Committee of Chief of State. The Committee also spent time listening to corporations introducing the technologies of power transmission. At the end of the Committee on November 21, 2007, on behalf of the host country Vietnam, Power Transmission Company No.2 held a friendly meeting.
