As estimated by EVN, generation cost in oiled turbine companies has surged by 710.25 VND/kWh, in oil gas turbine companies 517.39 VND/kWh and in diesel companies 483.94 VND/kWh. Then, by the end of 2007, generation cost of EVN has rose by VND 150.5 billion. If the petrol price continues to escalate as at present to the end of 2008, and with the expected power output of the whole year 2008 which is more than 58 billion kWh, total generation cost of EVN will rocket by over VND 900 billion.
Besides, in the rush period of dry season, EVN also has to buy power from some independent oiled turbine like Hiep Phuoc, Amata, etc., thus the fact that petrol price is increasing will actually lead to the higher price of power sales.
In order to maintain the sustainable power supply and business in line with to retain the electricity tariff at a plateau conforming to the Instruction of the Government, EVN has best mobilized the low price power generations such as hydropower, coal-fired thermal power, gas turbine, add-on, etc., and at the same time has minimized the high price oil-fired power generations. EVN keeps lessening the fuel and private power expenditure in production as well as declining power loss from 0.25 to 0.3% annually.
