As revealed by The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), power sales in January was estimated at 5116.7 million kWh, a 16.2% year-on-year increase.

Power supplied for industry rose by 19.91%, power for enterprises, hotels and restaurants increased by 18.86% compared to that of last year, and power for management and population’s consumption was a 10.66% year-on-year rise.

In January 2008, water inflow to Hoa Binh river was 378 m3/s and has now gradually decreased to 363 m3/s. At that time, Hoa Binh Hydropower was exploited in line with the water inflow level and provided water for Winter-Spring 2007-2008 crop with 19 million kWh/day on average.

Because the additional load highly increased in January, EVN had to mobilize the hydropower output of 1,775 million kWh, a 53.93 % year-on-year rise, and also the coal and oil-fired thermal power resources to ensure the power supply for the socio-economic development, especially the industry.
