As reported by the Government’s task force, the implementation of power projects which are put in operation in 2007-2008 period shows that: The national electricity network would be added 764 MW from 4 thermal power and hydropower projects, helping to limit the power shortage in the next dry season.

Accordingly, Dai Ninh hydropower plant produces 300 MW, Pleikrong hydropower plant generates commercially 50 MW from unit No.1, Tuyen Quang hydropower plant, with only one turbine, generates 114 MW, and Uong Bi 1 extended power plant produces to 300 MW.

But not as planed, single circle’s work of Nhon Trach No.1 project on mixed gas turbines with the capacity of 450 MW would be delayed for start to generate in March 2008.

However, as said by Vietnam Electricity, the power system can mobilize a great deal of power production from some of hydropower plants namely Hoa Binh, Tri An, Ialy  in the next dry season owing to the fact that those plants have actively conserved water resources as planned. Furthermore, thanks to quite stable water flow to hydropower ponds, in 2008’s dry season the power shortage will be less tense than that in 2007’s.
