In order to fight against the escalation of oil price, Korean Government is considering the plan to construct at least 9 civil nuclear piles to meet the domestic power demand.
With the above plan, Korea has set the objective of raising the weight of power output from nuclear piles out of the total power output to more than 55%, a noticeable increase in comparison with the current level of 35%.
There are currently 20 civil nuclear piles operating in Korea, along with another 8 ones being constructed and expected to be completed in 2016.
Korean Government plans to reach the power output target of 1.4 million KW in 2030 based on nuclear power generation.
